Bought a DMG style GBA from HHL

So far I'm satisfied with it. A few minor complaints...I wish HHL would specify on their website that they do or don't replace the capacitors on the mother boards. Also, after about 12 hours or so of playing the GBA (not consecutive hours) the left button feels a little bit mushy. I know this is normal behavior for GBA. However I wish theses retro companies would offer something as a fitting alternative. What I would like is directional buttons that are comparable to the feel of the A and B buttons (except not rounded). For some reason the A/B buttons seem to always feel better than the directional buttons (on all controllers).

Game Boy Advance Ultimate Console - DMG Style

If you're hesitant to purchase, don't be. The screen quality is insane. Some games feel 3D such as yoshi's world. It reminds me of my switch OLED model. The sound quality is also beyond top notch. At its loudest, you don't hear any hissing or noise distortion. It's louder than my switch. The build is also incredible. It's so light, but well made. It doesn't look modded. It looks original. Lastly, the customer service is friendly and easy to work with. I may buy an ultimate GB next based on my experience.

Gameboy of my dreams

Look excellent, sounds excellent, buttons out of this world perfect for how mushy GBA typically tends to be, taking into consideration this is not my first GBA DMG either, and centered the screen the best I've seen done in a DMG.

It was fun until I noticed the issues

I got mine about three months ago. The IPS screen looks great with bright and vibrant colors. The replacement face buttons feel very responsive and I like the look of the replacement shell. Unfortunately I started noticing some major issues with this modded GBA after playing around with it some more. The first one is that the L button isn't as responsive as it could be. I have to press it a bit harder than the R button to get it to register. The replacement D-pad isn't bad but it's a bit stiff making diagonals harder to register. Certain sounds effects cause the speaker to make a popping/crackling sound. The biggest issue is that the IPS screen has pixel flickering/artifacting as seen here from another user:

What's more unfortunate is that I didn't notice it until the warranty ran out so now I'm stuck with a flawed GBA that I either have to deal with or try and fix myself. I may have just had bad luck and all others are fine but I highly recommend to everyone that buys one of these modded GBAs to test it thoroughly after you get it and send it back immediately if there are any issues you come across.

I'm sorry to hear of the issue! Please message us at support@handheldlegend.com so we may get this resolved for you.
