I tested the screen before I installed it into my GBA SP Slab build and only found out afterwards that I received a defective screen. It powers on and all the filters work, but I see grainy, static, and tearing. This was the first time I received a defective unit.
Couldn't see the screen defect when I tested the screen with a GBA cart inserted. It is totally noticeable when I have a Gameboy Color cart inserted.
I'm disappointed that I spent $60 for a faulty unit. I'm usually happy with my other HHL screen purchases.

Screen is fitted and I absolutely love it, only 2 draw backs.
The screen was missing one of its 2 touch sensor pads.
And after about an hour of game play some pixels in the blacks areas flicker
Thanks for your review! We apologize for the missing touch pad. Send us a message at support@handheldlegend.com so we can get this resolved for you!
I really enjoyed putting this screen together way better than the OEM! However I feel like HHL needs to add like some tips for the touch sensors (which took me a while to figure out that was a feature for the IPS screen).
What is some options to actually help with the sensitive touch pads. My last resort is to remove them but I want to know if I placed them correctly and what material I can use to to not make it sensitive. I have found through questions to use some kind of tape but I am not sure if to put it. I hope I can get some answers quick.
Sucks because the colors and brightness is just cycling very quick. It was not doing it until like the next day. PLEASE HELP!!!!
This was my first MOD and everything went well. The screen is well lit and is operational. One issue I'm having is that sometimes the screen will freeze on me but the game is still running like it isn't frozen. I'm not sure if this is due to my lack of experience soldering or if it's the product. All in all I am still very pleased with it.
I noticed the cable that comes pre-attached to the screen sits at an awkward angle if you want to fit it into a gba sp without cutting apart the case. Basically have to make it sit at a 45 degree angle. If it was just moved 2-3 cms to the left it would sit perfectly. Mine didn’t come with any foam to help protect the screen, and pcb so you’ll want to order that separately. The touch sensors aren’t really necessary for this, but I was able to find some good places to set them. I used the color touch sensor by the top middle ****, and the brightness sensor is on the far right in between the case. You’ll want to line it up so nothing is pressing onto these sensors, otherwise your screen will go haywire. Also don’t set it up without any foam to help protect it I noticed the first time I closed it with no foam, and pixels started flashing all over at random intervals. After adding the foam protection it works perfectly. I get roughly 8-12 hours of game time depending on how bright the screen is.
The screen is wonderful and a great update to my GBA SP experience. The install was a bit of a hassle due to no actual step by step guide for this item but it was fairly easy to figure out. My issue with this item is, I can only play for about 20 minutes until the screen freezes. I can still hear the game in the background and menu sounds and character moving though. It also drains my battery fast which is an inconvenience, but not the end of the world.
