The shell was a super nice one to work with. The only thing I don't like about it is the hinge covers. The don't seem to be very sturdy, but thats okay I made it work with what I had. They chipped when installing new hinges which made it a pain. I will be purchasing more in the future.
I have been wanting to mod my Gameboys for some times now. I decided to finally make the jump! I knew the screens are nice but until you turn it on in person the pictures and videos don’t do it justice. I will be getting another screen for another build soon!
Attached are images of the mod and a before/after video.
Easy to install, no issues
This kit will breathe new life into the your GBA! I barely touched it before because I couldn't see the game I was playing very well, if at all. This LCD kit is on par with most modern day handhelds!! Worth every penny!
Worth the extra dollar 😁
This ips is gorgeous, with a vivid color palette. The ips appears to be the same size as the original gba lcd, and installs fairly easy. It should be noted that as described by HHL, aftermarket shells(especially the larger ips-ready) will vary a bit with the install process. I purchased a gba dust guard separately, glued the skinny piece to the left, the larger underneath flush to bottom-left corner, then I made skinny strips of dustguard center on the top and right side to secure the screen level(I had an ips-ready shell), secured circuitry and screen with residue-free tape, and insulated the circuitry afterward. I’m amazed at how accurately the screen aligned in an ips-ready shell. If I could do it, I think anyone could install this. If you don’t have an og stock shell, you may need more than the sticks to secure the screen, and will definitely have to think outside the box for installing in the larger ips shells, but it’s hella legit. The screen is TOUGH. I handled it with care, but was able to put decent pressure while securing screen in my make-shift bracing and the sticks :) I heavily advise handling with care, and be slow with no more than firm pressure. My strange install was due to me receiving my gba with a stock screen installed in an ips-ready shell with the foam and all preserved. If you are installing in a stock shell, I’m fairly certain it will be easy for you. If installing in an aftermarket stock-size screen case, it may go best with adhesive. If ips-ready shell, use adhesive or unconventional methods and a dust guard. The dust control is IMPERATIVE. I can confirm that these screens are tough as nails, vibrant, and gorgeous. This ips helped me breathe new life into gba classics. I had a difficult time getting it alligned perfectly, but that was because I chose to maintain ips-ready shell with this screen. I can safely say I made the right choice.
The screen was one of the easiest installs I have ever done and it looks fantastic too I will be purchasing again.
What can I say, the do the job, and do it well.
I love these shells. I have made over 17 different SPs over the course of my hobby making them for others. These shells are very durable, look amazing, and last a long time if you take care of them. Will definitely buy more!
Touch pads gave me some confusion but the HHL youtube channel helped a lot with that. Overall very easy to install and looks great
Shell was a cool color and pretty sturdy for a softer plastic.
Works flawlessly. Charges my Vita without issue. I bought to replace a broken stock one and have had no complaints yet!
Perfect addition to my original DMG rebuild. I've been really happy with the functioning of the battery, and the ease of charging. Haven't run out of juice yet, top it up once a week and it's always ready when the urge to play strikes.
I’m not sure if something came loose but for the first couple days screen was perfect then one day developed this slight yellow tint still playable just very annoying.
