Broke off as soon as I tried to test

Soldered onto the board after following the video’s instructions and as soon as I tried to plug the USB C in, it broke off, leaving the rest soldered onto the board.

Must have had a defective one

Soldered in new charge port then went to test it and as i plugged into it the usb c port broke right off not much pressure was used. Nice idea probly could use more support? Wasnt to bad to install.

Luckily they have a how to video on this, I would suggest looking at that since the way I was trying at first got me nowhere. You definitely need some type of soldering experience to pull this off but the end result is definitely satisfying.

Was possible with an iron.

This probably would have been trivial with a hot-air station, but it was doable with an iron. I had to use some tiny tweezers to bend the data pins away from the pads one-at-a-time, and then shimmy the plug back-and-forth with the ground pins. It just takes lots of patience and flux.
