Add this IPS LCD to your Game Boy Advance to make your play more enjoyable with a modern display, featuring enhanced brightness, color and clarity!

This "Cloud" version is yet another type of IPS backlight you can buy for your Game Boy Advance. The main difference between this version and the Funnyplaying and "unbranded" versions is that this kit does not require shell modification or soldering for brightness adjustment.

FEATURES:

  • Compatible with both 40 and 32 pin models.
  • LCD dimensions are closer to an original LCD masking window - 2.9".
  • No shell modification required for regular GBA shells, although we do recommend some trimming of the internal alignment edges for a better fit.
  • If using our pre cut shells, some trimming near start/select may be needed
  • Center screen installation, no offset display
  • Brightness adjustment without soldering wires VIA touch sensor tap.
  • B/W and color mode VIA touch sensor hold.
  • Pixel modes VIA touch sensor hold.
  • Cloud glass screen size recommended, not included.
  • Can also be used with OEM and standard IPS Lens, however, OEM may result in the image being slightly cut off. IPS may result in a black border around image on LCD.
  • Spacers included to align screen

  • 1x PCB
  • 1x 40 pin ribbon
  • 1x 32 pin ribbon

NOTES:

  • You can use an IPS ready shell if preferred, however you will need to rely heavily on adhesive use, and the IPS window is not perfectly suited for the cloud display.
  • After installation, if it is noted that your touch sensor is overly sensitive or is cycling, please see this article for assistance.

    WARNINGS:

    • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
    • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Somewhat easy to install and the brightness levels are everything. I love the pixel filter and have had a blast with this. It is hard to align the screen though and make sure everything is in place, but other than that it’s been great

    Needs some improvements

This was an easy install. I used an oem shell. The how to video provided on this website doesn't go over how exactly to install it, so I would do research to find one that does. Also getting the screen to be centered is not easy to do. Otherwise the screen looks great and was easy to install. Just know that the first time installing it might not be perfect.

    Works great so far!

Received the screen and tested it the way you're supposed to in the video. Had some trouble getting the pins to seat well but once they were it lit up perfectly. So bright! I then assembled the screen using some youtube videos - I do recommend placing a q tip between the space on the left side of the screen (when viewing the gameboy from the back while repairing it) to fill that gap like a lot of videos say. I used the adhesive that was already in the GBA but did trim down the plastic bumps in the bottom right corner of the inside of the shell (also still viewed from the back) like some videos say to do as well. This helps the screen sit flush.

With regards to the brightness button sensitivity - I put a piece of extra adhesive between the button and the ribbon cable like recommended. I did not cut the button to a smaller size as some videos recommend. I also took the plastic peel away screen cover from the LCD and instead of trashing it I placed it over the screen controller board - sort of in between the GBA mobo and the screen controller board to help electrically isolate the screen controls. Finally I used small pieces of extra adhesive to hold down the two plastic pieces that help frame the screen (again this was because I used the original screen adhesive, if you use the super strong adhesive that is provided you'll likely be fine without this). I also put a small piece between the back of the IPS and the screen control board to help stop the board from wiggling around. This seems to hold everything tight. So far no issues and the brightness control button works awesome! My GBA from when I was literally 10 years old is back and better than ever!

My favorite video I used - a bit detailed but helps a lot:

    Great Screen

Perfect to get if you don't want to trim your GBA shell for an IPS screen. I found it a little difficult to align properly at first, but I got it aligned better after rewatching and rereading installation guides from around the web. The screen does seem to smudge easily, so you may want to wear gloves or be extra careful when installing.

    Great Screen

This is one beautiful screen. Very easy to install, super flexible when I installed it on my buddy's pre fabricated GBA shell. My shell i had to cut it and test fit and all that. In the process I tore the ribbon cable. Moral of story, great screen, easy to install but buy the pre fab GBA shells, to have the best experience.
