Doesn’t have enough pins for the board!!

I tried replacing my SP charge port since those are starting to go bad. There were only 4 pins and my gba sp has 5! So did the old connector. And I have to bends the pins myself to apply it? What? I would love a refund.

Thanks for reaching out! This is generally the only type of aftermarket port for this purpose. Bending the pins for functionality is part of the install process. Please reach out to support@handheldlegend.com so we can assist you in getting this installed.

A Tricky Soldering Job - Time Will Tell How Well It Holds Up!

I installed this charging port as part of a larger GBA SP repair & upgrade project. When I received the SP, the OEM charging port was very finicky and would not actively charge on the power adapter for more than a half second. This replacement port is solid and well-designed. Be prepared to trim, then bend the legs of the port to sit more flush on the motherboard once they are soldered to the board. This is a tricky job, as there is not much space between the legs of the port and it is easy to bridge solder points, so be patient and you'll be successful. Also, before soldering, make sure to position the port so that it sits flush with the port opening on your shell. Otherwise, you will be connecting the adapter to the port at an awkward angle, which can create unnecessary pressure and damage / loosen the port over time. Time will tell how well I soldered the port on, but it's a well-made part, and here's to hoping it holds up over time.
