NOTES:

  • Only pairs with the Replacement Shell for Game Boy Advance - IPS Laminated - Funnyplaying. Other other shells require extensive trimming.
  • If you received a bracket that looks different from the one in the product photo, you may have received the wrong bracket. Please check to make sure you have received the correct bracket. If this is not completed and the LCD kit is damaged, refunds will not be accepted.
  • Long touch the touch sensor to bring up the OSD display, from there tapping the touch sensor once will adjust the value, and long holding the touch sensor a second time will allow you to cycle through the OSD. To exit OSD either wait 10 seconds or long hold the touch sensor for about 10 seconds.
  • No longer includes foam.
  • After installation, if it is noted that your touch sensor is overly sensitive or is cycling, please see this article for assistance.

WARNINGS:

  • You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely a included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.
  • Test the kit before installation! Once the display is mounted with the included double-sided foam tape, it cannot be safely removed. We ask that you test the kit by hooking it up before removing the screen protector and before mounting the display using the foam tape.
  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Beautiful Display

Came working perfectly upon testing, and installs nicely. Note that you should get a dry fit feel to get the correct orientation for the bracket and make note of it before doing solder work to save you some time. hint - align the top corner with the slanted edge to top left of the face plate when installing.

I have this working with the HDMI kit which I've seen no issues with so far. You will need to remove some material from the bracket to that it sits flush on top.

Minimal soldering work is optional since everything can work using the touch sensor which also works very well.

Very happy with the result!

Bad Response Times, Even Worse Brackets (Newbies to Modding Beware)

Be warned that HHL receives bad brackets from FunnyPlaying which don't even fit in the intended shells. You will have to trim them. As a complete novice into GBA modding, and modding in general, I have spent 3 hours trying to fix this gosh darn thing into the shell. As a solution I used their discord as a source of help. I waited an hour and a half to get a response back and only to be met with minimal help; and a response of "we'll help you tomorrow :)". Excuse me?! Tomorrow?? I’m halfway through my mod...TODAY!!

I used all their resources and guides... And guess what: all of them are outdated if by happenstance you get the "bad", ill fitted bracket. Their Youtube video has a foam for their mod which isn't even necessary anymore nor does it come with the kit---So, FYI, do NOT buy the foam and kit separately like I moronically did. Just tape the sensor to the back of your screen.

Then their trimming guide doesn't even have the up-to-date bad bracket that FunnyPlaying is sending out because I keep looking and I see a small similarity to it. (To me there appears to be 3 or 4 different brackets out there that come with the laminated kits, so God rest your soul if you got the one I got.) [See pictured down below.]

Now I'm halfway through 1 of 3 mods and I'm frustrated. Hopefully They'll send you guys better brackets, have updated their guides, and update their Youtube video.

Additionally, I tried to find guides online that had FunnyPlaying’s bad brackets which there aren’t really any on Youtube. I looked at “Let’s Open Old Stuff”’s 1 month old video; Erek Ladd’s 2 month old video; Jake Simmons’s 4 month old video; and Mahko’s 5 month old video. None of whom had issues with their brackets or had brackets that looked like mine.

P.S. If by chance you get Jack Moffitt to help then you're in better hands. Shoutout to him. He helped me with the tape and foam stuff.

Hello Alex,

I would like to first respond to the accusation you laid out
- I waited an hour and a half to get a response back and only to be met with minimal help; and a response of 'we'll help you tomorrow :)'

This is not true at all. Please note that I took the time to respond to you outside of our operating hours. All of our support staff was out for the day, and I was using my free time to assist with this issue. I responded by sharing our wiki support article, and explaining which tool you would need to use and even showed you the exact photo demonstrating the procedure required. I told you our support staff could provide additional information you were requesting the next day. When I did not give in to your demands that it would be 'First thing in the morning', you responded with:
'I figured out it, no thanks to you guys. Go play in traffic and I hope your grandma overdoses on weed. Also your services are deplorable.'

Even after this response, our support staff still offered you help. I'm leaving this review up and public, so that others can see this as an example.

We do strive to have up to date information in our guides, and we do not always get that right. I can appreciate that feedback and we will do what we can to update out of date information.

Make sure it works

Screen looks great and easy to install with the correct shell, which i got. Sucks that mine showed up with a black streak running down the side

My package arrived quickly and in good condition so no complaints there, however I'm having some trouble with the screen. I installed it and no matter what I do, it keeps cycling through the brightness levels on its own. Sometimes it stops for a few minutes but it always starts back up again and I don't know whats triggering the sensor. I've put it together with the sensor covered by foam and not covered by foam and its made no difference. Help!

Thanks for your review! We would be happy to help troubleshoot this issue with you. Please reach out to us at support@handheldlegend.com so we may do so.

Def really good. Sadly my screen came with dust mounted inside. Just a simple mistake at the factory. But Handheld Legend made it right and is switching it out for me. Really happy about that because we had a customer who noticed it and was unhappy about it.
