  • Kits may no longer include a touch sensor as a separate item. This kit has a touch sensor already included on the black ribbon cable. You may use this one by simply folding into the front or back of the shell, to rest on the top of the shell. You may also use the included touch sensor ribbon and solder it onto the 'TCH' point. Depending on the size/shape of this touch ribbon will change it's placement within the shell.
  • The power wire may need to soldered for the LCD to show an image. It may not be required with later versions, however, in order to receive maximum brightness on the LCD this wire will need to be soldered on. If your LCD is not showing an image (remains black but you hear the start chime), please solder the PWR wire.
  • After installation, if it is noted that your touch sensor is overly sensitive or is cycling, please see this article for assistance.

  • You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely a included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.
  • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Screen is coming apart

Screen is coming apart from the glass. I only noticed the issue after installing the screen. The issue didn't seem that big at the beginning but the area has spread further. Hand Held Legend does not offer replacement screens for sale only full display kits. I think the only place to buy just the screen would be directly from Funnyplaying.

Impressive Quality!

The kit was surprisingly easy to install (the linked Funnyplaying shells above are probably the closest to the original ‘feel’ of the OEM shells), and the included video guide was a great help to play during the process. The OSD menu constantly popping up with start and select may be a little annoying if you’re soft resetting for shinies, however.

Best for GBC

This IPS kit was super easy and very fun to put together. Makes my beloved handheld feel brand new and completely amazing. The tutorials supplied and recommended materials made picking out my products that much easier. Thanks HHL!

Did Not Make it a Year!!!

I will enclose a picture of my screen. It did not make it a year. As you can see, the cancer of death is on the IPS screen. I will reach out to see if this is under warranty, but the quality of some of the products here starting to deteriorate

Thanks for your review! Generally, when we see stuck pixels like this after several months, it is due to pressure within the shell. If you haven't already, please reach out to so we may look into this with you.

A bright & colorful upgrade!

Perfect addition to my pink & red Mod to my niece's GBC.
This handheld's display has never looked better

OSD a little different

The kit is amazing and super easy to install if you have some soldering skills. The only thing is that the OSD is a bit different than what is in the description. It is actually easier to navigate in my opinion. Well worth the money. Laminated IPS kits are the way to go.
