DOCUMENTATION AND NOTES:

  • To install the Game Boy Advance CleanScreen just remove the old screen and connect the CleanScreen. Optionally solder a handful of pads onto the board with no wires (if you use the optional wire-free kit) to enable the on screen menu. Install can be done in a matter of minutes.
  • The CleanScreen can be installed without trimming anything, but to achieve a perfect seal with the frame, the plastic dimples should be trimmed and sanded down. This is fully optional, as the difference is extremely small to begin with, and is only recommended if you want to have it perfectly flush against the frame or use a dust-guard kit to ensure no dust can ever come between the screen and the lens.
  • Use OEM or original size lens for this mod.

WARNINGS:

  • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.

  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Cleanscreen - The Backlit Beauty

Placing this kit in an OEM shell was a great experience and fit. Easily fits flush once the shell dimples are trimmed and simple to align perfectly into the original frame alongside the OSD functions. The OSD functions are a must have, to experience the kit to its maximum potential, the DMG and Gray modes are great for original gameboy games, not to mention the true color mode is crisp in detail and color. Adding some colored buttons to an OEM Shell alongside this screen really brings the Gameboy Advance to life!

Excellent screen with useful palettes.

Really is spot on with the original screen colors, not over saturated like IPS panels.

My favorite feature however are the 4 color palettes: GBA, IPS, B&W, DMG.
I use by GBA for GB games as well, and I being able to switch it to B&W or DMG from those usually horrible "wannabe GBC" palettes is great.

Amazing!

The soldering was a bit tricky but my friend fixed mine for me.

Great screen! (Wish it was cheaper!)

I absolutely LOVE this screen. I've been able to modify 3 separate GBAs with this screen; one in an OEM GBA as a replacement and 2 in upgraded IPS shells. They all turned out great. Make sure that you take care with the button ribbon cable if you use it; it's not that delicate but make sure you get the solder points ON THE DOT.

I love that the screen has a matte finish as well. It really helps alleviate the stress that usually comes with the final screen clean and putting on the glass lens with no finger prints or dust! I appreciate those small details!

Lastly - the screen is just better than the unbranded or branded IPS v2 screens. So many options and screen color choices you can't go wrong. I highly recommend this screen and am looking forward to when/if the price can ever come down! Cheers!

Great drop in solution with one draw back

I bought this kit to put in my gba with no soldering or additional mods, and the instillation was incredibly easily. At its default setting, the screen is just about as bright as an ags101 at its max brightness or a little brighter, and the extra settings(true motion and color and the pixel matrix) are on by default. The colors look nice and are supposedly close to the original’s. The one draw back is that you’re able to see the white parts of the screen at certain angles, which some might find extremely distracting, which is why I only rate 4 stars. As far as drop in solutions go, this is going to be my go to.
