Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
- LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

This is the same screen as the ones included with the FunnyPlaying ITA TFT backlight kit. It is very well packaged and was received undamaged, although it unfortunately does not have a removable plastic cover to protect from dust. The main issue with it is that since it is intended for a DSi, it still has a metal bracket on it that provides rigidity and structural strength to the screen. Unfortunately, with the FunnyPlaying mod, this metal bracket has to be removed. I didn’t realize this at first and I was left wondering why there was such a big offset in the screen positioning. Fortunately, I have some uninstalled ITA kits so I was able to figure out what was different about the screen. The metal bracket has to be removed in order to be installed. Given how thin and fragile these screens are this has to be done very carefully. Once I got the bracket removed, I was able to complete my screen mod (I had previously cracked the original screen trying to reposition it). Despite this one issue, I’m glad HHL stocks this part, as it is not the easiest to find. The pictures show the screen from here next to a screen included with the FunnyPlaying ITA kit. The bracket once it is removed is also pictured.
