Really bad, buyer beware

Avoid these shells at all cost. I purchased noticing these were in the clearance section and wow… yeah, you get what you pay for, apparently.

The screws are too short and do not properly **** in. I ordered two shells and both had over half their **** holes strip when trying to close the case. Likewise, I’ve noticed that the battery compartment won’t close if the batteries are in! So basically let your game boy be a half, closer paperweight or a half closed system with no battery cover on that does technically turn on. This isn’t even mentioning that the force required to *try* to get the screws to catch into the hole broke one of my two screens so I’ve had to pay to get a new one sent to me.

I’m sure this will be a return/refund situation but looking at past reviews, I’m surprised this was ever sold in the first place and has given me a new view on HHL’s products. I’ve purchased several displays from here before but I don’t really think there’s much they can do to get me to buy from them again.

Thanks for your review! Regarding the force to get the screws in, there is nothing for the screws to catch right away. Screw posts in all aftermarket shells are not pre-threaded. This is for several reasons but mainly if you need to open the shell back up again, the more you do so, the more likely it is for the posts threads to strip and/or the post may break. This does create resistance when putting the screws in for the first time.

We would like to look into the issue with the screws and battery covers with you further. If you haven't already, please reach out to support@handheldlegend.com.

Go to case for non laminated ips screens for the gbc

Great case. Easy to work with. Eliminates the hassle of misalignment. Only problems I noticed were that the power button is a bit ruff to move (I sand the inside of the button down a bit), the battery cover doesn't have the gameboy logo on it (Some people like the clean look but some like the original stickers on the console) and, the included screws you have to be careful with, can easily ruin the case if you over tighten which isn't hard because the builds usually don't fit together perfectly snug.

Worked out great!

Very happy with the shell. This, along with new buttons, and a new screen made a used GBC feel refreshed and distinctly mine.
