A replacement battery LED for your Nintendo Game Boy DMG, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Pocket. Included resistor for better compatibility. LED plastic is slightly opaque in nature. This will help diffuse the light for fully illuminated LED.

FEATURES:

3K ohm resistor included to reduce brightness (For DMG).
Simply replace the old LED with a new one for the GBP.
Use a 3K or even 4K ohm resistor to reduce even more if you desire (DMG).
Use these LEDs for cases as well.
Compatible with the DMG, GBC, and GBP.

Game Boy Macro Dowel Rod

DOCUMENTATION:

Open your Game Boy by removing the 6 tri-wing screws on the back panel. Also remove the Phillips head screws connecting the front PCB to the front shell. Separate the two units and locate the LED. Use a solder wick to remove the solder around the led leads. Remove the LED.
For DMG you will need to replace the "R1" resistor located near the top of the PCB. Use your soldering wick again to remove the excess solder on the front of the PCB. Replace this resistor with a 2K-3K ohm resistor to reduce the brightness of the LED. Otherwise, it would be much too bright. Solder in the LED (short leg is the negative side, and the long side is the positive) and the resistor in place.

NOTES:

LED will most likely be a clear white upon arrival. It will show the chosen color once installed. You can use a multimeter to test the LED color before install.
These LEDs can be used for a variety of game consoles such as N64 and GameCube as well. However, the size may be smaller than the original.

I love these LEDs. I got color charging and green. The green looks great but the color changing ones convinced me to put them into my Gameboy Color. I used a slow changing LED for the battery light in front and a fast change one as the charge indicator on my McWill charging kit.

Used the Slow Changing Rainbow LED in mine and a couple friends GameCubes. Very small easy inexpensive mod that will make you the envy of the neighborhood.

I replaced my 5mm red power LED with this one on my Nintendo 64. It worked great. The color went really well with my new blue translucent shell.

Pink

GBC - Pink, easy swap

GBC, Pink (specific review to color), FP IPS, Alkaline AA and OG Pelican power supply:
On power supply, the LED is borderline too bright to play at night, i adjust my hand to cover the LED while playing. Totally fine daytime.
On AA, LED is a comfortable brightness with fresh batteries. However im still playing and the LED appears nearly off at night, resulting in unnecessary battery anxiety and frequent need to save. Ive played over an hour with nerve racking low battery LED intensity.
Really looking forward to Li battery mod + voltage regulator and capacitor refresh, and hope that helps since the batt voltage curve is different and should stay bright until nearly dead. The Li constant current AA should also be nice w this LED. Sometimes considering trying to tune with a resistor but I dont think thats the answer for pink since i experience too bright and too dim, not just one or the other.
