Charge and Play:

The robot_retro GBA battery has charge and play functionality. Please note, if the USBC cable is remove from the GBA before the battery is sufficiently charged, the console will power cycle. Therefore, please either ensure the battery is fully charged or save your game before unplugging.

  • Low power indicator. The GBA light will turn red when there is 10-15min of play time remaining.
  • Battery protection to prevent voltage dropping below 3.3v.
  • Supports USB C to C, and USB C to A.
  • Low heat generation.
  • Compatible with all common IPS shells on the market. OEM shells will need to be trimmed to accommodate the battery.
  • A fully modded console with an IPS screen, amplifier, and flash cart will yield around 9.5-10 hours battery life.
  • Comes with a 1500mAh battery.
  • Charges in just over 5 hours. This module was intentionally made to charge slower than others to reduce heat and keep it at a minimum. Yellow LED lights up when charging. The GREEN LED lights up when charging is complete. 
  • Uses a negative polarity 10x30x48mm battery with a JST-ZH connector.
  • USB-C battery covers and charging cables sold separately.
  • For non-IPS and original shells battery housing modification is required. USB-C battery cover hole will need to be cut out.
  • For IPS ready shells, battery housing modification is not required. USB-C Battery cover hole will need to be cut.
  • V2 boards are now compatible with all USB-C battery covers.
  • If you have a V1 board, RetroSix shells and USB-C battery covers are a perfect match for this module. If you are planning to use either a FunnyPlaying or Hispeedido shell/ USB-C battery cover you will need to trim a tab on the upper left side of the USB-C battery over.

Great little battery

This is probably the easiest rechargeable battery to set up. Simply connect the battery to the board and insert it into your Game Boy Advance, simple as that. So far the battery seems to have a long life, I've only charged it once when I first bought it and it has lasted a long time with some casual gaming. It is much better and far more convenient than constantly swapping out AA batteries.

Best Deal and Mod for Battery Needs

Ultimately, this is currently the most affordable of the drop-in and play rechargeable battery mods for the Game Boy Advance. This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased, and if you are playing on system with any upgrade mods such as an IPS or TFT LCD screen, TV out, or color LEDs, these will both extend your play time and reduce the frequency of the battery power bottoming out, shutting off your system mid-play (which was happening to me on occasion in a console that includes a TFT LCD and a pair of shoulder button LEDs). Dropped this in, booted it up, and enjoyed uninterrupted play with continuous power draw from the battery mod. Great stuff.

When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return. If a backlight/LCD is returned and shows any signs of having been installed, it will not be eligible for a refund.

Requested returns/refunds/exchanges for items you believe to be defective, will be subject to a troubleshooting process with our support team before proceeding with a return/replacement/refund.

Modifying a product in any way, including but not limited to removing or adding components, will result in the voiding of our return/refund policy.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Defective or damaged parts are free to return within 30 days of purchase. Shipping costs are not covered for items returned at a customer's request or the refusal of the troubleshooting process with our support. Refunds for shipping costs and Route Shipping Insurance will not be given.

LATE OR MISSING REFUNDS (IF APPLICABLE)

You may cancel or edit orders yourself (before fulfillment) by following the steps in this guide. If you edit/cancel your order, you can expect a refund within 1 to 7 business days. Orders that have been fulfilled by our shipping team cannot have edits made or be canceled. We will do our best to assist customers in this process if needed, but it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their order and shipping information is correct before processing the order.
