How do I know which adapter I need? Look on the back of your GBA after removing the battery compartment to find a number on the PCB:

40 pin has white connector
32 pin has white connector
32 pin models start with a "1"
40 pin models start with a "0"

Using this cable may cause your screen to look washed out. If so, check out this thread. We cannot fully support that this item will work with the AGS-001 LCD. Refunds are not accepted in this instance.

WARNINGS:

Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Turned out great!

Easy install, couple case snips and a single solder point. If you have a faulty AGS 101 laying around and a gba you haven’t IPS modded, this is a great cheap way to make it far more playable.

Apparently there are 2 types

I was sent a ribbon cable that didn't work? Apparently there are two types and I have a white tabbed 101 screen and a 40 pin GBA so it didn't work? I bought a "Type B" ribbon cable from another place and that ones sure to work. Kinda wish I knew that before I wasted 13 bucks

Works as intended

Installation went smooth.
Soldering point is not required in order for the ribbon to work but will set brightness to max.

32-pin (white)

Pretty awful part.

The connector latch is hilariously narrow. you have to completely remove it and then use electrical tape to hold it down. It barely holds the signal without the latch's pressure, so I removed the tab from my ribbon cable and it was still too thick. I ended up kinking my ribbon cable and destroying the whole display. Thanks a bunch, HHL.

Worked like a charm

I installed the ribbon on a 32 pin agb 001 with my ags 101 screen panel, installation was easy. And it just worked. I like it a lot better than the ips screens. This is my new favorite way to enjoy the gba game catalogue.

It works better than expected

Once it was installed into a GBA SP AGS 101 Screen thanks to DK Oldies it's sharper and better than the original screen.
