I got tired of worrying about dust getting in my old GBA screen, so this new screen was a definite must-have!
I'm overall pleased with the results of the new laminated screen. Easy installation, and the preinstalled touch pads are a nice idea. The pixel grid effect looks like the real retro screens of old, and the other scanlines are pretty nice as well.
The only flaw I found, and it could be major, is for the games that use fast flashing sprites to simulate transparency. I played 1 race of F-Zero Maximum Velocity, and the pseudo-transparent track map had actually burned into the screen! I played around with some other games hoping that the ghost image would fade, and it did after about 7 or so minutes. I'm not exactly sure if the ghost image could be permanent or not if left sitting for an extended period. If any static object in a game's hud were to use this effect for a long duration, there'd be problems.
Amazing piece of hardware, easy to install even for first timers and gives playing the gba a whole new experience
Screen is amazing. Too bad I dropped a jar of Brandied Cherries directly on the screen from about 3 feet. Immediately impulse bought a replacement. Recommend to anyone. Just don’t drop a glass jar of preserves on it.
Just got this in the mail and installed it. Gotta say, super easy install, no cutting the case, drop it in and only one wire to solder.
Screen is super bright and crisp! I'm so impressed with how much this improves the GBA experience. It's like a whole new system.
