NOTES:

  • At this time, the Laminated IPS Shell For Game Boy Advance - Hispeedido is the only one we would recommend for this kit as the kit was made to be paired with this shell. All other shells may require heavy trimming in order to be compatible.
  • This kit can be paired with IPS Modified Prestige Shell for Game Boy Advance - RetroSix but it is not recommended - install at your own risk. If pressure spots are noted on the LCD, a small amount of trimming may be necessary on the shell. Please see product photo that indicates the area of which to trim and how much.

OSD Menu Operation:

  • Press the Select+L+R buttons for 1 second at the same time, then release the buttons to activate the OSD Menu.
  • Press the Select button to select the adjustment item when OSD Menu activated.
  • Press the L or R button to adjust the item when OSD Menu activated.

WARNINGS:

  • You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely a included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.
  • Test the kit before installation! Once the display is mounted with the included double-sided foam tape, it cannot be safely removed. We ask that you test the kit by hooking it up before removing the screen protector and before mounting the display using the foam tape.
  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

It's a nice kit, but there's room for improvement

I just finished installing the kit into my new shell and it works pretty well. Everything worked just fine when I tested the screen before installing it. Installation went smoothly for the most part, but I'll elaborate on that further down. I opted to remove the touch sensors, but the Select, L, R method works great. The brightness settings greatly enhance the enjoyability of GBA games.

That being said, I do have a few gripes. Firstly, I wish the **** holes in the modified prestige shell came pre drilled. There wasn't any trouble **** everything down, but that resistance definitely made me a little hesitant. Secondly, after installation and loading up a game, I noticed some light bleeding through on the left side of the screen and along the bottom as well. Lastly, there seems to be this buzzing/humming noise when the unit is on. The unit has to be held up to your ear to hear it, but it's there nonetheless.

Touch controls are jank

This is an edit of a prior review. I left the thing to sit overnight and a problem that I was having with the osd just went away. Screen is bright and clear, but the touch controls are overly sensitive. Ended up removing the one for color scheme as I don't need quick access to that.

Bad controls

The touch controls seem to alternate between going off for no reason at all, and not responding. The OSD pops up but can't be interacted with. Included is a video of the display changing colors for no reason. Eventually we got it stuck in a color mode that looks close to normal and managed to get it back to being unresponsive. Design is nice otherwise, but the controls need work.

Good at first…

I tested the screen before installation multiple times, it worked and looked beautiful. Installed it, and it works perfectly… for like a week.
Haven’t dropped it, only kept it in my room to play. Out of nowhere, one side of the screen goes dark! Part of the backlight gave out completely out of nowhere! I tried resetting, changing batteries, reseating…
Huge disappointment for something this expensive!!

Chefs Kiss, Brought My Advance To Life

The screen is awesome, the osd works great, the picture is night and day from the original, bright, colorful, clear and crisp. Would buy again for sure in the future.

Only "downside" is the top touch pad doesn't seem to work even after moving it. The guide mentioned this could be an issue so no surprise there. Honestly I find the touch pad stuff kinda gimmicky anyway.

YMMV

I bought two of these kits. Installed both. The feature is and works great. But both screens had some bleed, one significantly worse than the other. I bought the replacement shells suggested for the screen but the fit was tight which is presumably why they’re bleeding. Of course I tested before hand, but you wouldn’t be able to see screen bleed in the white GBA boot screen. So once fully installed and tested with a game it became noticeable.
