Install Video
Remove original port and solder on this module in its place. There are six points to solder onto the motherboard.

NOTES:

To use the audio feature with headphones, you will need a USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter or USB-C headphones. This must be without any DAC, just analog. For example, this one will work.
Compatible with USB-C to USB-C cables, however, it will only work on one side.

Great Product!

Picked up one of these after seeing so much about it. I will say that it would’ve been a great product, if I was an adult and didn’t throw it away by accident while clearing my project table. I realize this isn’t any problem of the two companies for this transaction. I fully accept that mishap. Therefore: still a top notch review and included is a pic of what I currently have. Have a great one! :D

Pretty Great, Could Be Better

First off, the mod works well and as advertised. Unfortunately that means that it does not support USC C to USB C cables. That is unfortunate, but they properly disclosed that. As for the plastic insert for the port, it may be a good idea to have a file set available. I don't know if it was this kit or my shell, but there were some fitment issues that required filing. Fortunately, I only had to file the filler insert. The installation is simple, but it could be improved. Some anchor pins on the sides would have been nice for lining it up. Overall, it is a solid option for the price, considering it is not much more expensive than a replacement SP charging cable.

Fairly straight-forward install and worth the effort. Trickiest part is aligning the USB port to the board while anchoring it down (make sure the USB port is flush against the board when anchoring).

Better then other USB-C Charging Mods

Originally I had a cheaper USB C installed that I got from Amazon, which did work, however it did not have audio and the cover was misaligned as well as the 2 solder points on each side. This one was, much easier to install with almost perfect alignment and the cover slipped easily. I had to remove and reinstall it again after realizing i bridged 2 connections and lost all audio so if you have a similar problem, make sure you check the USB C for any bridged connections. It can be bridged from the underside, which won't be visible unless you remove it. When I resoldered it I used much less solder and now have a better connection and restored audio.

Easy Mod – Works Perfectly!

Desoldered the old charging port and soldered this USB-C adapter in its place—wicked simple and just works! Now I can charge my GBA SP with my regular phone charger. Total game-changer. Highly recommend!

Came in very quickly, after I soldered the anchors down, I just heated up the back and it made a proper connection and it works beautiful! I did not notice. It came in different colors when I ordered I should’ve matched it to my clear blue!!!! either way wonderful product
