Highly recommend this for anyone using their gba for extended periods. This has saved me on batteries and is very easy to install.
I placed mine in an OEM shell and purchased the precut battery door. Trimming the shell was not difficult and required only a hobby knife.
Super easy to install all you need is a shell that matches with the normal shell you have but one with a usb c slot and just plug in and run it and it works like normal
rechargeable battery accessories for portables are most definitely not a new concept. the GBA had plenty of them back in the day.
this is the best modern iteration (ive tried this and an old version of one from helder), just make sure you get a battery door for it.
the white solder mask on the PCB matches the soldermask on the GBA PCB which is a nice touch if your using a transparent or translucent shell
the only issue i have with it are the battery tabs. the ones used are for coin cells (look up "36-122-ND" on digikey. digikey is an electronics component supplier),
the issue they have is that due to the shape of the contact, they have a tendency to catch on the shell when you try and remove them. its not a hard catch and don't make removal hard, it just a stopping point for the removal.
one tip. only use the pre applied tape to attach the battery to the PCB. do use the other side and adhere the battery to the case as it makes removal quite a bit harder, making future servicing the GBA much harder then it needs to be.
