Ultimate Consoles are premium, customizable handheld and home console kits offered by Hand Held Legend, designed specifically for retro gaming enthusiasts. These kits allow users to build or personalize consoles like the Game Boy Color (GBC), Game Boy Advance (GBA), Game Boy Pocket (GBP), Nintendo 64 (N64), and GameCube (GC), integrating modern features while preserving the nostalgic feel of the originals.
Ultimate Consoles are available in several formats: pre-built consoles, which are ready-to-ship units assembled by Hand Held Legend to ensure consistent quality; made-to-order consoles, which are themed designs built upon request and typically delivered within 1 to 3 weeks; and build-to-order consoles, which are fully customizable kits where customers select each component using a builder tool, making it easy to create a compatible, personalized console.
These upgraded systems feature enhancements such as high-definition IPS displays, USB-C charging, enhanced audio, improved power management, and modern shell colors and ergonomic designs.
A standout example is the GC Ultimate Controller, a reimagined GameCube controller with modern features like hall effect joysticks for durability and precision, HD Rumble for tactile feedback, Bluetooth compatibility with Switch, PC, and Android, RGB under-stick lighting, dual motion sensors, USB-C connectivity with a 1000Hz input rate, and swappable gate plates for different control styles.

Made-to-Order consoles typically take 3-14 days to arrive.
Custom consoles can take 1-3 week to be completed.

Made-to-Order Builds are themed builds with a 1 to 3 week turnaround.
Build-to-Order Consoles are fully customizable using our interactive builder that prevents part incompatibility. These also ship in 1 to 3 weeks.

No, consoles are included with your purchase. If you'd prefer to send your own console for service, contact customer support for a custom order.
Product Questions
Laminated kits have the lens fused to the screen, keeping it dust-free and providing better clarity but limiting customization.
Non-laminated kits have a separate lens, offering more customization but may attract dust over time.
Light bleed is when backlight leaks from the screen edges, often visible on dark backgrounds. It’s common in edge-lit displays like Game Boys. Minor light bleed is considered normal and not covered unless caused by build pressure or a defect.
Most mods come from different manufacturers and may not be compatible with each other. This can lead to issues if mismatched parts are used. This is referred to as mod stacking.
Mod stacking happens when combining mods from various brands. Problems may include power issues, noise, fitment conflicts, or exclusivity limitations. Our builders are designed to help prevent these conflicts.
