Install Guide

The Game Boy DMG has evolved yet again to include more on screen controls for modern IPS LCDs.

FEATURES:

11% larger display than the original.
Some minor shells modifications may be required depending on your shell.
Vertical and horizontal display adjustment with on screen controls (OSD).
RGB capability, choose from 8 different colors with a press of a button (contrast wheel).
OSD menu has Color Adjust option for RGB color balance.
Brightness adjustment replaces contrast wheel.
OSD menu has Pixilation mode (retro pixel) option.
OSD menu has Battery indicator on screen option.
Almost solderless. The speaker (not included) will need to be soldered onto Front PCB.

NOTES:

This kit has a Q5 LCD that is 11% larger than the original. A Q5 lens will be necessary to have the proper viewing window. This kit currently includes a Gray Q5 lens. If you want a different variant, you will have to purchase that separately.

To use brightness, color, and OSD menu on contrast wheel:

Cycle normally for brightness.
Short press (one to two seconds) to cycle for color modes.
Long press (five seconds) to enter OSD.

WARNINGS:

Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Absolutely incredible screen!!!! BIG BUY!

I am absolutely shocked at how beautiful this screen looks. Absolutely precise. So much versatility in how you can display the color palettes and the installation was very simple. It took me a bit to figure it out but once I did, I had an absolutely great time. Make sure you test before you purchase!!

Crystal Clear, Easy Install, Troublesome Bracket

This screen looks so good. The image is crispier than fresh apple slices. My only qualm is the custom bracket provided in the kit. Mine arrived warped and was applying visible pressure to the screen when the console was completely reassembled. I ultimately opted for a different solution to hold the screen in place, but still, absolutely love this screen. Don't hesitate to pull the trigger if you're looking to backlight your DMG!

Great product

The installation of the GAME BOY DMG IPS LCD V4 Q5 OSD & FRONT PCB KIT - HISPEEDIDO was very simple and for the most part painless. My 10 yr old daughter and I assembled it pretty quickly. We did have an issue with the screen flashing on and off which was resolved with some extra cleaning with alcohol On the ribbon cables. We used a modified shell by Funnyplaying also sold by Handheld Legend. One bit of advice is make sure not to tighten the screws to tight on the shell by the screen adjustment wheel. If to tight the wheel gets stuck.

Great IPS display

Great IPS display from Hispeedido. Installation was easy, and the result was just great. Here' s some tips for beginners like me:
Since I used an original shell, I need to cut some extra pillars to fit LCD despite the stay has holes for them.
If you feel that the contrast dial is too stiff after installation, you need to loosen the screws just a bit near the dial.

It looks amazing!

The install video was very helpful to install this. I did have to cut a small bit off the frame that is right below the new contrast wheel. When I screwed it all back together the wheel wouldn't move as it was pressing against this nub. Not a hard thing to do, it just wasn't in the video.
I wish the speaker wires were the same gauge as the original. Trying to get that tiny wire soldered to the board was a bit tricky but I managed.
Overall it's a very nice screen and I love being able to play in any light condition now. Thank you!

Good choice

Sweet little screen really breaths new life into the whole system. Paired it with the retro six power management board and audio amp with a new speaker and it’s awesome. Really beats searching for sunlight!
