The fit, feel, and tolerance of the RetroSix ABS shell is better than the original. The buttons are stronger with newer ABS and more accurate molds than the original, the buttons and triggers are ultra-responsive, the plastic is much stronger and free of any detects like those you get on injection-molded shells.
The battery compartment allows for a drop-in fit of the CleanJuice XL without any cutting required. If you plan to purchase a CleanJuice we recommend to purchase the USB-C battery cover so you have the USB C hole in the battery cover.

NOTES:
- As of 9/26/23 - Pearl White, Pearl Red, and Pearl Purple variant are currently not a perfect color match for Pearl White, Pearl Red, and Pearl Purple shell.
- A majority of these shells will no longer have the "For Nintendo Game Boy" text as they are being phased out. Only Pearl White, and Clear will have applicable text.
- The shells feature self-threading screws as the screw posts are not pre-threaded. To avoid damage, do not over-tighten, as this may cause cracks. Refunds are not given in these instances.
- To clean the Pearl shells use a clean white microfiber cloth and mild solvent of your choice. When using a colored microfiber cloth, the solvent can dissolve the dye and stain your shell.

I've purchased a lot from handheld legend and I have the GBA retrosix shell which is incredible. BUT this DMG shell is just gross. Nowhere on the website is this described as painted. It's actually white plastic covered with this orange rubbery stuff. If you plan to use an IPS screen please get the bracket as tape does not stick well to this stuff which is also half-sprayed on the inside of the shell as well. They also spray it into where the buttons and d pad go .. so the buttons struggle to pop back up... Baffling as to why they thought this was a good idea. While quality of the plastic is good I don't think it's very practical to make shells like this.
Maybe the other colors don't have this issue but the orange one is not very good.
Some of the Prestige DMG shells had this issue with the button holes, and we thought we had gotten them all replaced, but perhaps you ended up with one. Write us at support@handheldlegend.com and we can get it replaced for you.
I bought the retrosix GBA shell, and it worked perfectly. This shell, however, does not measure up to the GBA shell. First of all, the buttons aren't machined to holy perfection as the description says... the A and B buttons I was sent BARELY fit into the openings. They're stuffed in there. I swapped them out for a set of old A and B buttons I randomly had in a drawer, and those buttons fit perfectly. On top of that, they want to sell you an aligning bracket... WHY?! The GBA shell had this simple instruction: push up and to the right. If the IPS screen doesn't fit perfectly into this shell without a bracket, then it wasn't engineered specifically for the IPS screen.
I do love the matte finish of this shell and it would have been brilliant if I hadn't had to replace the screen lens. When I was using isopropyl alcohol to clean off the old adhesive where the previous lens was I noticed that my cotton swaps were turning blue like the shell. Unfortunately it had pulled up the matte finish around the outside of that area. I'm going to replace the shell and the screen lens to get it back to perfect!
It's a great replacement case, I ordered the black with an IPS screen and it came out beautiful. Except, it is missing the lettering for the 'A' button

purchased the modified shell in white, along with a new screen, buttons and a couple others.. I wound highly recommend not only if you want to upgrade your classic gameboy, but if you enjoy getting to see the insides of the console and getting to truly appreciate what you do to it. Highly recommend.
