WARNINGS:

  • You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely an included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.
  • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Brings a classic to today's quality and gives new life

When going though my neglected for years Gameboy box I had powered up my Gameboy Advance and the years have not been kind to the early front lit LCD color panel. Panel was dim and poor. The 3" IPS replacement screen was easy to install and looks great! This is a critical machine for playing the early B&W GB games (as well as the newer advance games) and this screen makes it bright and enjoyable, much better than when it was new!
Thank you for producing this easy to install upgrade.

Nice screen - easiest mod I've done

This was a great experience. 9/10. The GBA SP is a very easy Game Boy to do this kind of mod. First, you can use the battery to dry test the LCD. I put a cart in and verified no dead pixels. Second, the screen fits perfectly. I didn't need to buy an aftermarket shell (haven't had the best luck with those) or get out a rotary tool to cut plastic. 3rd, the on screen display menu is cool - like others have said, the retro pixel look is nice.

What HHL did well: Packaging, Instruction Videos (mostly), wire they sent for the OSD was the right length.
What HHL could have done better: They took a while to ship - but they notified me they were busy so I was prepared for it. The Dry Test guide is not for the SP. You can use the GBA SP battery to dry test. The video and guide were mostly helpful but both failed to zoom into the solder port that's actually ON the ribbon cable. Both the video and the guide called out the other port, Q12B but they didn't say anything about the port on the Ribbon Cable. I could kind of see from the video which one he soldered to. Now I realize that there is an image of the guide that zooms and it's very easy to see which port - but definitely an oversight that there isn't at least a sentence saying that.
