Game Boy Advance SP CleanAmp Pro - RetroSix

2nd time I’ve bought it, both times it hasn’t worked and has blown the fuses on the gb.
I wouldn’t recommend buying it.

"That's too loud daddy!" was the first thing my daughter said when I turned my GBA SP on at full volume after installing the CleanAmp Pro. I've installed three of these now and the only downside is connecting the ground pin to that tiny resistor. On one of my installs, I accidentally removed the R17 (3k Ohm) resistor in the process of trying to pre-tin the ground pin. The other two installs I did were fine, I just botched that one. I found replacement resistors so hopefully I can fix it. If you're concerned about messing up the resistor like I did, just use an enameled wire and run the GND connection on the flex PCB over to pin 5 on the power plug. Pin 5 on the power connector is the audio ground. Use flux, don't put too much solder on and you'll be fine. The sound quality is amazing. Slight hiss when no sound is actually playing, but I have to hold it close to my ear to really hear it. When the volume is off, the unit is 100% silent.

Used in combination with the funnyplaying speaker and the dehum dehiss kit very good

Works and makes the volume exponentially louder. However this mod is significantly more difficult to do, compared to some other mods, as you'll have to solder the ground of the amp to the very small end of a resistor. If you experience way more feedback than normal, check that ground point or solder a wire from the amp ground to the charge port or link ports ground and it should help clean up the audio.

Even with a good ground, you'll still have some feedback in which case, you should get a power cleaner mod which will help eliminate any remanence of buzzing or feedback!

It's a great mod, just takes time and some minor troubleshooting!

When installing this thing I had some trouble soldering to the tiny resistor. Aside from that it was an easy install. I also threw the funny playing speaker. With the amp and the new speaker my gameboy screams at me at full volume. Easily
3X the OG volume. Although it does produce quite a lot of audio noise. So be prepared to buy a power cleaner. (Tip thermal tape is your friend)
