Upgrade your SEGA Game Gear with the CleanScreen for the GameGear. Developed by Retrosix. 

As of 3/24/23 the supplier has let us know there is currently a compatibility issue with VA1 models ending in 9024. The issue being incorrect colors displayed on the LCD. This has been resolved in an updated version of the PCB. Please see 'Documentation' section that has a video showing the install update. This now applies to every version of the V2 PCB to complete install.

To use OSD controls:

  • Hold Start + 2 + Left to get into the menu.
  • Left and 2 move the menu left and right.
  • Start goes in and out of menu.

WARNINGS:

  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

So easy!

Just as the title says. This mod was so easy I’m actually impressed. I was ready for a good amount of time doing this, I think I spent more time setting up my area than I did installing this. The wireless ribbons is what made this mod so trivial. Along with not having to solder to pins which is always the make or break point of modding a Game Gear. Highly recommend.

Installs great but has issues

Install is much cleaner than the V1 board, IPS panel looks great with it, major issues being the incompatibility with SMS games and certain GG games when using an everdrive. You will be forced to modifiy your everdrive if you want this board to work completely, or modify the cleanscreen board and open up a potential for frying the GG ASIC. If you're happy with your V1 board I would stick with it until this issue is resolved with a proper board revision instead of a mostly untested, hacky, circuit.

Easiest Game Gear Install I have ever done

This was an extremely easy install I strongly recommend picking up the wire free ribbons. I have done many Sega Game Gears and would guess it takes about an hour to do the old way of soldering wires every where, maybe 45 minutes no issue. First time doing this kit and it took me literally 15 minutes. Extremely impressed!
