The Game Boy DMG IPS Backlight V5 Display is a full size modern IPS backlight for your original DMG game boy. This LCD is a formidable upgrade and has a PCB replacement for those of you who may be looking for a replacement LCD. There is finally a solution for those who have broken or damaged their LCD or ribbon cable during a backlight installation.

How to test your LCD kit
NOTES:
To use brightness, color, and OSD features on contrast wheel:
- Cycle normally for brightness
- Short press (one to two seconds) then cycle for color
- Long press (five seconds) to enter OSD (On Screen Display) mode.
WARNINGS:
- Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
- LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Everyone has been so impressed that I modded my DMG screen. Little do they know how easy it was! Soldered 2 wires and Handheld Legend did the rest of the heavy lifting! Genius product 🔥
The install went as smoothly as the installation videos depict. Highly recommend adding the usc charging. The only unresolved issue is the dial on the DMG becomes stuck in the case.
This screen looks amazing! The options are nice too. I had to trim down some of the rubber square on the display board to get it to fit properly, otherwise the settings wheel was getting caught in the shell. It was overall pretty straightforward to install. Side note I am getting an audible buzzing sound when the boy is on. I installed an extra capacitor to the power circuit, it seemed to reduce the buzz by only a little. Open to suggestions on how to fix that.
I have a box of Gameboys with dead screens that I’ve had sitting around for years so I finally decided get them working now that we have great replacements available. I decided to try this one first as I liked the inclusion included a picture of an old backlight mod (left) compared to the IPS screen (right) and it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last 10 years. This is installed in a FunnyPlaying shell and fit fine but the screen is a hair small because of the bigger cutout because the shell and lens are design for a screen that’s 11% larger. I don’t mind that I can see the sides of the screen but this may bother some but this can remedied by installing a standard less instead of the FunnyPlaying lens I used.
The OSD has some great features. I love being able to change the colors of the screen and the pixel mode makes it look more like the original display. It’s a bright, crisp screen and I have t noticed any issues with latency. I’m very happy with my purchase and will like buy a few more to revive other Gameboys in my parts bin.

Modifying a product in any way, including but not limited to removing or adding components, will result in the voiding of our return/refund policy.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
Defective or damaged parts are free to return within 30 days of purchase. Shipping costs are not covered for items returned at a customer's request or the refusal of the troubleshooting process with our support. Refunds for shipping costs and Route Shipping Insurance will not be given.
Please note that international orders are not eligible for a prepaid shipping label for returns on defective products. Returns must be paid for by the customer.

You may cancel or edit orders yourself (before fulfillment) by following the steps in this guide. If you edit/cancel your order, you can expect a refund within 1 to 7 business days. Orders that have been fulfilled by our shipping team cannot have edits made or be canceled.
