Game Boy Advance Flex Amp - Robot_Retro

This little amp gives a lovely clean sound. I adjusted the peak volume level using the onboard small pot to limit both the minimum and maximum sound levels. This gives a much better range if you like to play discreetly at night!!!

Also, another feature is that the volume will cut out a very low levels, this avoids the hissing I've observed from other amps with the volume wheel turned all the way down.

Highly recommended and I'm planning to fit this in all my GBAs. This is the best flex amp on the market

First things first, for some reason HHL doesn't mention that this should use a 2W speaker to prevent distortion. It's mentioned on the original seller's site, but not on HHL (presumably because they don't sell one.)

Beyond that, I had a few issues like the bottom half of the volume wheel giving no volume and the top half being very loud with little variation in levels. The adjustable peak level is a fantastic idea, but not a single ifixit bit I had would fit cleanly and it was a pain to mess with. I also find it funny the instructions tell you to cut flat the solder on the speaker pad instead of just wicking it up.

It is pretty easy to solder, but honestly just gave up after the above issues and soldered the new speaker back to the original pads. My unit could've been a fluke, but I'm kinda burnt out working on this so I'll take what I can get.

Great amp for the console. Made the mistake of not buying a new speaker, but the old one works fine. Couple things I would point out. Wish they had instructions on the pot adjustment for the amp. Turn the pot LEFT will make it louder while turning it RIGHT will make it quieter. Also, had to file down the original speaker like they mention in the description or else the motherboard won't sit flush.

Excellent upgrade. I bought it knowing that I would it figure it out. Volume is excellent. For those looking to adjust the potentiometer, by trial and error I found out that turning clockwise lowers de voltage (bringing the max volume a little lower but also allowing to lower volumes to be played when bringing the volume wheel below 50%). I kept mine that it mutes around 25% but still brings a nice loud volume. There was no noise from the speaker, even when bringing the potentiometer higher. I also upgraded to the 2W speaker as needed.

Sound is crisp and clear, 2min to install. This is far higher quality that the R6 amp, my go to from now on.

I've used both Robot's and R6's amps and I really like the way this particular amp fits and sounds in comparison.

I think it's actually a bit easier to fit on your GBA board and think it cleans up the sound a bit better as well, WITHOUT the need for a dehum/dehiss kit.
