One of the best and easiest upgrades you can do to your Game Boy Advance is put in this USB Type C PCB mod! Created by Robot_Retro, this PCB is built with a more efficient regulator and charging circuit to prevent overheating like many others on the market.  

FEATURES:

  • Adds USB-C charging feature to GBA.
  • No soldering required.
  • Charge and play functionality.
  • Low power indicator. The GBA light will turn red when there is 10-15min of play time remaining.
  • Battery protection to prevent voltage dropping below 3.3v.
  • Supports USB C to C , and USB C to A.
  • Low heat generation.
  • Compatible with all common IPS shells on the market. OEM shells will need to be trimmed to accommodate the battery.
  •  A fully modded console with an IPS screen, amplifier, and flash cart will yield around 9.5-10 hours battery life.
  • Comes with a 1500mAh battery.
  • Uses a negative polarity 10x30x48mm battery with a JST-ZH connector.
  • USB-C battery covers and charging cables sold separately.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • For regular non-IPS modified and OEM shells: Battery housing modification required. USB-C Battery cover hole will need to be cut.
  • For IPS ready shells: Battery housing modification is not required. USB-C Battery cover hole will need to be cut.
  • For all shells, you can purchase a USB-C battery cover by RetroSix here. If you want to use a battery cover made by FunnyPlaying here, minor trimming is required on the post that sits above the battery connector. You may also need to raise the PCB to line up accordingly.

Robot_Retro USB C battery mod

I’ve installed several of these in my modded GBA’s and haven’t had any issues. Battery doesn’t pop out and is a slick addition to the unit. Typical charge is lasting me about 4 hrs of continuous gameplay. Excellent alternative to AA batteries

the usb-c charger is 10/10

My last battery blew out (not from here) and this one prevents overcharging/heating that caused that. It takes a while to charge to full but worth it not breaking and it lasts FOREVER. I am actually happy the old one died. because this is way better. Easy to install as well. hhl has great prices and selection too.
