The display area is slightly smaller than the original so a custom lens must be used to mask properly.

After so many years of thinking how nice it would be for a Game Boy Color to have a Backlit Display, Handheld Legend made it happen. Installed and works great!

Game Boy Color TFT LCD Kit - Unbranded

The installation: super easy and quite fun and interesting.
The use: going from night to day with the backlight! I really enjoy seeing a lot more the games I play!

I have seen no changes in power consumption.

I see only one minor drawback: the LCD is struggling a bit with very brigth ambiant lights, in the sun for instance. Maybe it can not give enough brightness to override the ambiant one. It is very specific though!

Big and Bright Enough

I was first concerned that the screen would be too small or not as bright as an IPS counterpart. However, for the GBC it feels true to size and gives an enhanced classic experience. A great first mod especially if you're looking to put this in your childhood GBC. No cuts to the original shell needed; a very easy install.
