A Game Boy Backlight display mod from Hand-Held Legend is an easy to use LED panel that fits behind the original Game Boy LCD to light up the screen from behind. Some modification to the console is required although its basic enough for any beginner.

Polarization film is not attached to backlight.
- To test this backlight, you can use a power supply, such as alligator clips or a multimeter, on the two gold contacts to turn it on. This ensures the correct color has been sent and review the backlight for any damage/defects.
- Do NOT use cleaning agents such as alcohol on the backlight. This can cause damage such as spots/splotches.

Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
- LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

A nice kit with resistors pre-soldered for an easy install. Good fit and nice brightness so no worries there. The polarizer was also of high quality and non-sticky which is a plus. I highly recommend the bivert chip as well, but that's a matter of preference.. Just make sure to be careful whilst doing this mod so you don't crack the original screen, ribbon cable or get any moisture anywhere where it is not supposed to be. Go slow and careful and you'll be fine :)
The product is great and would buy again. The only issue I have with it is I tried to clean a little more on mine and if developed a light spot. I was just using a q tip and some ipa to clean my screen and that is when it developed.
Works perfectly I love this version compared to the old version. It works perfectly and the installation was not bad. Sometimes the old screen residue is time consuming to remove and other times it's super easy. Over all this is a great cheep way to get a backlight without spending the extra $ on a aftermarket screen like the ips screens.
I just finished installing the backlight (Yellow-Green) on my childhood Game Boy. This is a great way to give it new life while retaining the original feel of the device. This mod lets you play anytime, in any setting. Unlike the OG screen, where you'll need the perfect lighting to see your game.
The install wasn't horrible, but it's not for the faint of heart. It's really easy to damage your screen... During my install I ended up creating horizontal and vertical lines on my screen. The vertical lines were fairly easy to fix.. the horizontal lines thankfully were corrected with careful heat from a heat gun.
Lastly, the first backlight I received had a little bit of light bleed in the corner. I contacted customer support. They were really nice and easy to work with. The new backlight works and looks perfect.
I can't recommend this mod enough!

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

CANCEL/EDIT ORDERS
You may cancel or edit orders yourself (before fulfillment) by following the steps in this guide. If you edit/cancel your order, you can expect a refund within 1 to 7 business days. Orders that have been fulfilled by our shipping team cannot have edits made or be canceled.
