Pads ripped while I was thinning them... Not worth buying.
I installed this upgraded sound chip too my OG game boy DMG-01 and it is way louder than the factory sound!! I love it! I can hear it in the other room with the door closed it’s insane. Great quality product. I would have too say I burnt thru about 4 of these chips before I got it right but that’s just because I’m a noob at soldering lmao. Thanks for this great product!
Was hoping this would fix my sound issues (it didn't, ended up being a dirty headphone jack), BUT, after purchasing a second one after applying too much heat the 1st time around and melting the solder pads OFF the board, 2nd install works well.
There's an audible "click" when you power down with this mod installed but doesn't appear to effect anything. For the 2nd install had to purchase the correct gauge cabling and some additional materials, so recommend to double-check your supplies before proceeding. Once it's installed, Correctly- works great. surprised how loud it can be.
(Installed in DMG - previous mods installed on this include: backlight, bivert, and power management upgrade.)
So this tiny thing is a bit of a trick to install. But there are clear guides that really make it manageable. All solder points are pretty reasonable (except one, in my opinion).
I used too thick a wire so I hade some difficulty arranging it so it closed up but that was no fault of the product. So be warned.
Sound quality is much improved and volume is immensely improved. I think I’ll be adding this to my other GB’s next time I order.
I wish I could post before and after videos. But here’s the after.
This tiny (and it is tiny) lil thing did the trick on my old DMG. It was a bit finicky to solder but once is was in the bleeps and bloops were bleepin and bloopin!
this is a horrible product. the pads immediately ripped off on mine. support was useless, they blamed me for having the “incorrect temperature of the soldering iron”. they said it needed to be at 365 degrees. mine was at around 350. garbage quality board, garbage support. all around garbage. avoid this at all costs.
