Add this IPS LCD to your Game Boy Advance to make your play more enjoyable with a modern display, featuring enhanced brightness, color and clarity!

This "Cloud" version is yet another type of IPS backlight you can buy for your Game Boy Advance. The main difference between this version and the Funnyplaying and "Hispeedido" versions is that this kit does not require shell modification or soldering for brightness adjustment.

FEATURES:

  • Compatible with both 40 and 32 pin models.
  • LCD dimensions are closer to an original LCD masking window - 2.9".
  • For original and original style shells, there is minimal shell trimming required.
  • Center screen installation, no offset display
  • Eight brightness adjustment options without soldering wires VIA touch sensor tap.
  • B/W and color mode VIA touch sensor hold.
  • Pixel modes VIA touch sensor hold.
  • Cloud glass screen size recommended, not included.
  • Can also be used with OEM and standard IPS Lens, however, OEM may result in the image being slightly cut off. IPS may result in a black border around image on LCD.
  • Spacer included to align screen.

INCLUDED:

  • 1x IPS LCD
  • 1x PCB
  • 1x 40 pin ribbon
  • 1x 32 pin ribbon
  • 1x Acrylic Spacer
  • 1x Adhesive
  • 1x Centering foam strip

DOCUMENTATION:

NOTES:

  • After installation, if it is noted that your touch sensor is overly sensitive or is cycling, please see this article for assistance.
  • Tap touch sensor for brightness options.
  • Hold touch sensor to cycle through color and pixel modes. Default is HD mode with color. You will cycle through pixel modes first in color > HD > BIPS > SL 1 > SL 2. After the last pixel option, you can continue to press hold for Black and White Mode in HD, then cycle through pixel options for BW as written above. If you want to get back to color mode, you will need to cycle through all the pixel modes which will 'reset' the LCD back to color HD mode (F-Zero).

WARNINGS:

  • Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
  • LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.

Great screen, very tough installation

The screen quality is excellent, just like the IPS v2. This particular screen DESPERATELY needs a better alignment tool though. It is nearly impossible to get this thing properly aligned with only the 2 acrylic spacers provided. I had to cut some extra plastic to make additional spacers. PLEASE make a 3D printed aligner for this particular display. It especially needs the left and top spaced to avoid shifting.

Also, I felt the shell needed modification for installing. Most unmodified aftermarket shells come with the raised aligner edge (pictured) in the inside of the face shell. You need to trim these down in order for this particular screen to install flush. Centering requires the screen be pushed right against the right edge of the interior. You can't do that cleanly without the trim. The window itself does not need to be trimmed, but the interior still does.

I think this screen just needs a little more time on the market before it has the troubleshooting figured out.

Notea: It may just be user error. I may be overlooking something and made some serious mistakes. Time will tell!

Pretty good screen with no soldering!

Skeptical since there are no reviews yet but it worked perfectly! Just make sure the screen is dropped down to the bottom right of the screen opening from the back view. The screen brightness sensor was a little tricky to get it in the right position but it works!

Showing pretty well.

Works amazing just broke the screen the first time. Wish they sold it by itself.

Good display but not so bright

It's a good display for the original shell. But the display (Black GBA ) is not as bright as the other IPS V2 displays (Red GBA). It fits the best way when you put it as far right and down as possible. The brightness sensor is a touch sensor. I installed the sensor in a hole on top of the shell. I attached a photo.

I wanted to like it more, but I can't

The auto dimming function is very weird. I found the install harder to fit in the shell than a standard IPS. The centered mounting is nice if you do not have a modified shell but if you have an IPS case that has been milled it wont center correctly with any spacers. I will be removing this and placing in a standard IPS kit soon.

Stick with the old IPS until bugs are worked out

I was very excited about the fact that I may possibly be able to stop cutting my shells, but alas, that is not yet the option. The screen functions fine upon testing but when wrapping up the job and putting the two halves together, mine would not fit. It was so close, but just off enough to where modification of the shell is required. After modifying the shell so the screen would fit, I go the two halves together to find out that somthing had bridged, frying the GBA, as well as the screen had shattered in the process. I don't want to give up hope, but I recommend sticking with the old IPS v2 until the new clouds have their tolerances and bugs worked out.
