Upgrade your Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP with a bright and modern IPS LCD color display. The V2 version includes a standard PCB instead of a Flex PCB and allows brightness and color control.

NOTES:
- Logo text on lens is silver.
- After installation, if it is noted that your touch sensor is overly sensitive or is cycling, please see this article for assistance.
WARNINGS:
- You do not need to purchase a separate lens. Removing pre-adhered lens from LCD can result in damage to the LCD and will void product warranty. If you received an extra lens in your order, this was likely a included plastic lens with a shell and should NOT be placed on top of the pre-adhered lens.
- Test before installation! When you receive a backlight/LCD kit, you should perform a dry run before installing to assure that nothing has been damaged in transit. A dry run or test fit means the kit is not installed in the shell. This includes the use of adhesives, brackets, and any performed soldering. All ribbon cables should have no bends or creases in them. If you are unsure how to perform a dry run, please contact our support team and we will be happy to help. Backlight kits that have been installed are not eligible for replacement or return.
- LCD may break if put under too much pressure or dropped. Please exercise extreme caution when installing.
This kit is near perfect for anyone looking to repair or upgrade their existing AGS-001 GBA SP. Unit works as intended and brings new life to the handheld.
The only reason I am not giving this a perfect score is because the PCB that came with my kit sits too flush on the right-backside preventing even the IPS modified shell from closing. I had to trim some of the plastic in order to make enough room for the shell to close.
Screen looks wonderful, but the power draw is at the upper limit of what a Gameboy SP can do. Some games will clearly still be running (you can hear the menus and other stuff) but the screen will freeze with the image in place. Will be trying a different IPS screen without extra add-ons for brightness and color palettes. This might be just board lottery as well.

This has really breathed a new bit of life into one of my SPs.
The little red cable for brightness adjustment is a bit fiddly to solder on, and there's not a lot of room to play with, but take your time and it'll be fine. The touch controls for brightness and filtering were strange and over-sensitive, so I disconnected them.

The screen is wonderful and a great update to my GBA SP experience. The install was a bit of a hassle due to no actual step by step guide for this item but it was fairly easy to figure out. My issue with this item is, I can only play for about 20 minutes until the screen freezes. I can still hear the game in the background and menu sounds and character moving though. It also drains my battery fast which is an inconvenience, but not the end of the world.
I got this to replace my old broken SP screen. Works great and is super bright. Definitely beats the old backlight.
However the touch controls for the brightness adjustments are overly sensitive. Could be my fault in installation. They can be disabled, but I stripped my ancient GBA screws trying to get back in...
Installation was simple, but the wiki guide I used from the confirmation email sent to me was a little off from my product. The one on the store page is more accurate.

I Purchased this V2 version due to the funny playing one being out of stock. the real problem is that the touch sensitive buttons, they're are constantly annoying if you even bump the back or front of the screen they get set off meaning my screen will either change brightness or color which is a headache. you're better off snipping them off and soldering the wire on for the brightness button.
